Climate Emergency Meeting Huddersfield Mission 29 February 2020 1pm – 5pm

A message from Environment Kirklees

We are in a Climate Emergency.

This event seeks to bring community groups, businesses and the council together to kick-start immediate and effective climate action in Kirklees. It will share what action the Council is already planning and flag up what local groups and businesses are already doing to tackle the climate emergency as well as looking forward at how a Climate Commission for Kirklees could be a key tool in taking climate action in Kirklees.

Key speakers include Cllr Shabir Pandor, (leader, Kirklees Council), Sir John Harman (formerly Kirklees Council and Environment Agency). Professor Andy Gouldson, Co-Chair of the Leeds Climate Commission, will be a Guest Speaker at the event, sharing lessons from Leeds as a possible roadmap for Kirklees’ own Climate Commission.

There will be opportunities for networking and finding out how people can get involved, and there will be short presentations from a wide range of local groups and businesses about what they are doing to tackle the climate emergency.
